20 reasons why I love Christmas.

  1. Decorating the tree while listening to a Christmas playlist, arguing over where that glittery bauble should go, while sipping a G&T will never get old.
  2. Opening that first advent calendar door on December 1st is almost as exciting as the big day itself.
  3. Toffee Nut lattes are pretty bloody great.
  4. Getting overly competitive over a game of Dominoes and feeling silly playing Charades is a ritual.
  5. Pigs in blankets.
  6. Wearing anything remotely glittery and exclaiming ‘well, if I can’t wear it at Christmas, when the hell can I?!’
  7. In depth discussions about what the best Christmas song is. It’s Last Christmas by Wham! just in case you were wondering, obvs.
  8. Good shit Christmas films made for TV, usually starring people from cancelled TV shows. As well as the classics – It’s A Wonderful Life, Santa Clause The Movie, Love Actually, of course.
  9. Getting merry on Christmas Eve, but not so much that you’re too hungover to eat your turkey dinner.
  10. Christmas markets – they’re just so darn festive. We’re off to Birmingham this weekend and I just can’t quite contain my excitement.
  11. Cute Christmas wrapping. I spend more than I care to admit on just wrapping paper and ribbons, yeah I know my boyfriend won’t even notice, but hey, I enjoy it.
  12. Finding THE Christmas day outfit. I may be staying at home but hell, I’m dressing up for the occasion.
  13. Christmas cracker jokes.
  14. Seemingly bottomless tins of chocolate – calories don’t exist between Christmas and New Year, promise.
  15. All. the. cheese. If you don’t have a cheeseboard at Christmas, what are you doing with your life?
  16. Savouring the opening of presents, so it’s not all over too quickly.
  17. Dressing up for festive drinks and parties. I just love a bit of glitter and a red lip!
  18. A three course Christmas dinner, because we can.
  19. Getting someone a bloody awesome gift and waiting for their reaction.
  20. Because it’s lovely getting the family together to round off the year, clinking glasses and stuffing our faces with bloody good food, that’s what Christmas is really about. That makes me feel like the luckiest person ever.
